Book taken from the sea of stars It s really hard to like a love interest after they act sexually inappropriate to the main character or anybody else The scenes of him coming in drunk looking at her naked body and even thinking about touching her were not needed The scene of him looking for sex while drunk was dumb to keep in Why would you have two pages of the love interest attempting to rape her plus other scenes of him sexually assaulting her Almost raping her was his character growth and he didn t seem that ashamed of his actions the next day Hearing him say Sorry men have urges and It s because you re naked to defend trying to rape her felt so gross. Book taken from the sea book Just to be clear the love interest attempted to rape the main character It only stopped because she spat on him There s also scenes of him touching her when she does not consent The way he acted in these scenes should have been changed like not staring at her naked body not saying he wanted to cum in her or not trying to rape her After pretending the love interest wasn t written to be a sexual predator I found their relationship to be cute But it was also the best thing about the book. Taken from the seaworthiness I really loved the story surrounding Jason and his fascination with the Selkie I was on tenterhooks for Colleen during her captivity But I thought her feelings for Jason changed very abruptly from fear to attraction and I would have liked to see friendship development I found the Chinese Triad element a little odd as the context wasn t fleshed out very well There wasn t much beyond triad equals bad and evil I would have liked to have learned about her father s connection to China and the evidence he had saved and encrypted on the flash drive.
